Mental Health Toolkit

Toolkit to Support the Mental Health of Students

The Department of Public Instruction has promoted using a Response to Intervention (RtI) approach to address a variety of related issues, prominently the area of behavior through Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). As the department has developed additional resources for trauma-informed schools, violence prevention, and mental health, it has used the same three-tier model to articulate evidence-based programs and strategies at universal, selected, and targeted levels. The resources below have been developed and selected to help schools establish and maintain a comprehensive approach to supporting the mental health of students. School districts are encouraged to build on existing and effective related initiatives to improve learning (e.g., PBIS). The intended audience includes pupil services professionals, health educators, and school administrators. More information on PBIS is available from the Wisconsin PBIS Network.
