The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) and the Wisconsin Association of School Nurses (WASN) holds training sessions for registered nurses new to the specialty practice area of school nursing. Our goal is to help the new school nurse in this transition by providing information and resources that can help make their first years more successful. Experienced school nurses may also find this information helpful.
School nurses can access the presentations by utilizing two options:
1. OPTION 1: Log in to the TRAIN website available at
this link to view the same DPI webcasts as in #2. The advantage to using this website is the tests are scored for you. After viewing the webcasts and passing the tests, you can print a certificate. You can track your progress through the videos by using "my learning record".
- Register by creating a login and password.
- After entering the website, insert the course number into the course number box to view the individual webcast for the type of inservice activity you are interested in viewing.
- User Guide - Post Assessment and Certificate
At the conclusion of the webcast and the post assessment test, school nurses may receive continuing educational credits by completing the application and submitting $10 to the Center for Professional Development and Outreach. Address the envelope to: School of Nursing CPCO, Center for Professional Development and Outreach, 600 Highland Ave., Madison, WI 53792.
