What does the PK-12 Instruction Section do?
- Set High Expectations
- Develop and implement the standards for areas: Art & Design, Computer Science, Dance, Information & Technology Literacy, Environmental Education, Personal Financial Literacy, Music, Science, Social Studies, and Theatre.
- Develop resources to support standards, high-quality instruction, and strategic systems of assessment.
- Create space for, validate, and affirm diverse cultural and linguistic identities and perspectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop resources for WISELearn.
- Promote safe and responsible practices for students for Keeping Kids Safe Online.
- Promote Equitable, Personalized, Collaborative, and Engaging Learning Opportunities
- Provide leadership for anti-bias, anti-racist teaching and learning.
- Use research and data to make informed decisions to improve learning outcomes.
- Provide targeted support for specific student populations.
- Bring Professional Learning to the Field
- Create space for, validate, and affirm diverse cultural and linguistic identities and perspectives.
- Develop and facilitate asynchronous (recorded webinars, elearning modules) and synchronous (workshops, presentations, book studies, PLCs, collaborative partnerships) professional learning at the local, regional, state, and national levels that promote best practice.
- Support recruitment and retention efforts by working with educator and leadership preparation programs and the DPI licensing team.
- Operate DPI Media Room and support initiatives relative to images, content creation, accessibility, and alignment to DPI programming.
- Innovate in Wisconsin Public Schools
- Promote authentic and developmentally appropriate learning.
- Support online and blended learning with Wisconsin Digital Learning Collaborative.
- Support Future Ready leaders to implement the Wisconsin Digital Learning Plan (online and blended learning).
- Support schools to provide Personalized Learning.
- Provide support for Virtual Learning Time and the Fostering Innovation Guide.
- Administer the application process for Districts of Innovation.
