WISEadmin: User Guide - Administrator Acknowledgment Screen

At the top of the WISEadmin home screen, users logged in with the District Admin user role may notice the message, "Please complete the administrator acknowledgements." This message only appears if you have not yet completed the required acknowledgments.

To access the Administrator Acknowledgment screen, click Administrator Acknowledgment from the "Data Reporting and Snapshot" submenu. Or, click the Administrator Acknowledgment tile on the home screen.

The Acknowledgment screen includes the following sections:

Data Quality Acknowledgment

Snapshot Acknowledgment

The Data Quality Acknowledgment section above introduces important logistical aspects of DPI snapshot data. This screen serves to solidify the administrator's acknowledgment and agreement to provide the most current and accurate snapshot data by providing the names of LEA contacts with a specific focus on the LEA's data team.

Administrators are asked to acknowledge each of the major data categories collected in the December Student Snapshot by providing a contact for the each of the following:

  1. Third Friday of September Enrollment data for the current school year
  2. October 1st Child Count data for the current school year
  3. Career Education (CTE) and College and Career Readiness (CCR) data for the current school year and
  4. Graduation, dropout, discipline and attendance data from the prior school year.
  5. Student demographics data of the May Demographics Snapshot must also be acknowledged.

Provide a Contact

The only way to change the status from Not Acknowledged to Acknowledged is to provide a contact.

Refer to the Agency Contacts section of this user guide for instructions.

  1. Click Contacts next to "Not Acknowledged" to go to the Agency Contacts screen. When contact information is pushed from WISEdata or WISEid into WISEadmin, then "Not Acknowledged" changes to "Acknowledged."
  2. Enter the administrator's contact information. This is required in order for the certification box to be checked.
  3. Click Submit.

Value-Added Services

There are four "Value Added Services" sections on the Acknowledgment screen.

Immunization Data Sharing

If your LEA works with an EdTech vendor that has Wisconsin Immunization Records (WIR) integration, opting in allows you to quickly compile student health records.

System Integration and Interoperability with WISEdata

DPI offers optional data elements for LEAs to submit, such as digital opportunity, tribal affiliation, ancestry and ethnic origins. This value-added service allows DPI to use that optional data to support data-informed decision-making, improve digital access, and facilitate secure, efficient interoperability across educational platforms.

Graduation Status as Directory Data Acknowledgment: New! for 2026-27 school year.

Graduation Status as Directory Data is determined at the agency level. The value states the selection made by the local education agency (LEA) to include graduation status as part of its directory data by selecting opt-in or opt-out.

To support efficient integration across educational platforms, DPI may share parent and guardian information reported in the WISEdata Portal with approved edtech vendors used by LEAs. This data is classified as "directory information." Under FERPA and Wisconsin law, directory information may include parent or guardian contact details and can be shared if LEAs provide public notice to parents. LEAs must:

  1. Notify parents about designated directory information, and
    1. Allow a minimum 14-day period for parents to opt out of sharing specified data.
    2. Maintain a record of all disclosures.
  2. Note: For student safety, DPI strongly advises Safe at Home participants to opt out of directory listings, including both student and parent/guardian addresses. While the student and parent/guardian addresses are typically the same, this may not always be the case.
  3. Relevant Statutes: Wis. Stat. §§ 118.125(1)(b) and 2(i)34 C.F.R. § 99.37.

The district decides one of the following options:

CodeDescription
Opt-inThis LEA has decided to share this directory data.
Opt-outThis LEA has decided not to share this directory data.
A screenshot of the graduation status as directory data acknowledgement as a value-added option in WISEadmin Portal.

As with all directory data, as per Wis. Stat. §§18.125(2)(j)(1), the LEA must inform the parent or guardian of all minor students of the LEAs choice to use this directory data. Families can agree (i.e., go along with) or disagree (i.e., make the opposite selection) with the LEA’s choice on an individual basis. This is displayed in WISEdata Portal as the Graduation Status Opt-Out data element

Once a selection has been made by the LEA to either opt in or opt out of the data share, that decision is maintained each year. LEAs can elect to manage this in WISEadmin Portal if they want to change their decision to opt in or opt out.
