WISEsecure Application: An App for DSAs and App Administrators
What is WISEsecure?
If you are an administrator with access to WISEsecure, first log in to WISEhome. Then select WISEsecure from the list of available applications.
WISEsecure is a DPI secure application, used only by District Security Administrators (DSAs) or Choice Administrators and Application Administrators. People with these roles use WISEsecure for a variety of security tasks, including:
- assigning and revoking user roles for DPI secure applications
- running reports to audit user roles of district/school staff
- managing the Pending Access request queue

User Roles to Assign to Personnel
For successful reporting of state and federally required school and staff data, your LEA needs personnel assigned to the following DPI secure applications for basic functionality.
- Ed-Fi Credential- If changes are needed to vendor product subscriptions
- School Directory- Database updates including contacts
- WISEadmin Portal- For administrators, data errata, library plan & more
- WISEhome- For assigning end user access roles for other DPI secure applications.
- User Role: Application Administrator or District Security Administrator
- WISEid- Create and update student and staff identifiers
- WISEdash For Districts (public districts only)- Robust set of data dashboards
- User Role: Student Detail Analyst, Economic Indicator Analyst, FAFSA Access, Economic FAFSA Access, Summary Analyst, & Snapshot Prep
- WISEdata Portal- Verify data and view validations
- WISEstaff- To meet requirements of the annual staff audit.
DSAs and Application Administrators
DSAs
This role is assigned to at least one person in your district (generally the District Administrator or the person in an equivalent role), though it is a best practice to have at least one staff member assigned as a delegate DSA . This role allows the DSA to assign Application Administrators who are then in charge of assigning and managing user roles within the specific applications.
The DSA receives Application Administrator and Application User access to all current DPI applications.

Application Administrators
Application administrators (App Admin) can grant access to and assign user roles for specific WISE applications, as designated by the DSA. An App Admin can also revoke user roles for their specific application(s). If you are an App Admin, refer to the Assign Access to WISEhome Applications User Guide for information on how to use WISEsecure to review access requests and assign user roles.
Each application can have an assigned App Admin if the DSA elects to assign one; App Admins are optional. The App Admin can be the same person for each application or someone different. There can be multiple App Admins for an application, depending on the needs of each district or school.
- The District Security Administrator (DSA) determines whether or not an application needs an App Admin assigned, and the DSA assigns App Admin roles.
- Once the App Admin is assigned, they can manage user roles in WISEsecure.
