Published Data: Public School Calendars

Why Calendar Data?

DPI publishes data this data as a courtesy, and for the benefit of anyone who would like to know this information about our Wisconsin schools. The calendar data listed below, however, may not be as timely as you need it to be.

For the most current information available, visit the online Wisconsin School Directory, a searchable collection of public and private schools in Wisconsin.

Using this directory, you can search by school or district name, street address, city, or ZIP code to find important information about schools and school districts. This directory also includes map data about schools and districts, as well as a searchable directory of contact information for school and district personnel.

Simply click the link for the Wisconsin School Directory: PUBLIC PORTAL to be redirected to the School Directory public application. This version of School Directory can be accessed by anyone and does not require a login.

Note for LEAs: First Day of School/Last Day of School

Starting with the 2023-24 school year, calendar data (i.e., First Day of School/Last Day of School) from public schools will be collected in WISEdata Portal via the student information system (SIS) vendor tool. Visit the First Day of School/Last Day of School data element page for more detailed information.

District Calendar Summary

The District Calendar Summary is located in the Public School District Calendar spreadsheet.

Since the 2012-2013 school year, this file contains district-level information. It includes the start date for teachers and students and the last day of school for teachers and students. The report also includes the CESA, County, and District codes that can be used to filter subgroups of the data. The last two digits of the file name indicate the end of the school year. For example, 02 represents the 2001-2002 school year, or 03 represents the 2002-2003 school year.
