WISEdata Portal Updates
WISEdata Portal: Course Export, Updated Definitions
A definition for Project Lead the Way (PLTW) is now on the definitions list for the WISEdata Portal Courses Export. The export renamed previous terminology, “Course Program,” as “Advanced Coursework” and defines it as:
- Denotes whether or not the program of study is Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), or Project Lead The Way (PLTW).
Additionally, the export has also removed the definition for “Rigor Level.”
This definition applies to all three years in WISEdata Portal (25-26, 24-25, 24-23).
WISEdata Portal: Message Center, Updates
The Message Center in WISEdata Portal has improved user-interface features.

- Message subjects remain consistent when LEAs send communication threads.
- The Message Center now groups messages by WISEid. This allows LEAs to quickly find and review all related messages for a specific student without manually matching them using the WISEid column.
- The grouped messages are located within a collapsible accordion.
- Each collapsible section lists messages chronologically.
- Column headers now also have filters, allowing users to sort by ascending (most recent on bottom) or descending values (most recent on top).

WISEid and WISEstaff Release Notes
WISEid/WISEstaff Updates
WISEid: Change Requests, Comment Tab
WISEid now displays a system-generated comment on the Change Request, Comments tab whenever a change request is created from a match review or WISEdata/WISEid update job. The comment informs you of the source of the change request along with a date/time stamp.
WISEstaff: Improvements
The WISEstaff system now features improved performance of contract data validations. This allows LEAs to receive more accurate validations for staff with contracts.
Additionally, WISEstaff now excludes merged licenses from the Licensing Download report. Excluding these merged licenses benefits LEAs by having cleaner results to review.

KBAs for Validations (Errors and Warnings)
Validation Warning 6711: Updated Logic and Text
The KBA for validation warning 6711 has updated logic to trigger the warning more effectively and to more clearly delineate the hierarchy for PK vs Kindergarten (KG). This rule does not apply if either the current or previous enrollment has a grade level of PK, as DPI does not consider PK to be part of instructional grade progression because PK is not a grade, it is a service. It is, however, reported as a grade in WISEdata Portal for consistency within the data. Kindergarten, by Wis. Stat. §115.01(2), includes four-year-old kindergarten (K4) and five-year old kindergarten (KG). Therefore, PK is 'lower' than K4.
Validation Error 7139: Split into Three New Rules
For the 2025-26 SY and forward, validation error 7139 has been replaced by three separate validation rules, allowing the logic for each new rule to more precisely check for education environment associated with a specific age range:
