Special Education Team Art Project

In 2018, the Special Education Team put together an art project "Expressing Our 5 Beliefs!" We would like to give a special thank you to Susan Hart and Eric "Rick" Guetzlaff for their participation and hard work in putting this project together!

Art project of tiles showing different visual representations of "beliefs" about supporting students with disabilities and their families.  The picture shows 10 rows of tiles with 2 to five tiles in each row all in DPI colors of blue and green with various individual pictures.  Examples include flowers, children holding hands, connections, hearts, butterflies, graduation caps, and statement that nobody rises to low expectations.  At the top of the tower of tiles is a tile that says "Believe".

Picture of a plaque with three panels.  The first panel on the left is a quote from Gloria Ladson-Billings that says "I really feel energized by this new generation of students . . . people are thinking about schools differently and thinking about learning differently and using new technologies.  It's all very energizing."  The second middle panel states the DPI College and Career Ready Individualized Education Program (IEP) Five Beliefs which are High Expectations, Culturally Responsive Practices, Student Relationships, Family and Community Engagement, and Collective Responsibility.   The last tile on the right is a quote from Malcom X that says "Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today."
