Lifetime Educator License (Post-2017)
A lifetime educator license is a Tier III license. It is initially issued to educators who successfully completed at least six semesters of experience in Wisconsin in the license area of their Provisional educator license and have completed all statutory requirements. The six semesters of successful experience must meet the following criteria:
- Acquired in one of the following entities: CESA, charter school, licensed child care provider under contract with a school district to provide 3 or 4-year-old kindergarten, private school, school district, tribal school, Wisconsin center for the blind and visually impaired, Wisconsin Challenge Academy under s. 321.03 (1) (c), Stats, or Wisconsin educational services program for the deaf and hard of hearing.
- Completed in the license area of the Tier II license held. Note: Due to changes in state law in 2018, experience acquired in the license area on previously issued initial, professional, and master educator licenses may also be counted.
- Completed in the five years immediately preceding the July 1 start date of the lifetime license.
- Acquired providing direct services to students or providing administrative oversight in a pre-kindergarten through grade 12 setting in the license area of the Tier II provisional license as verified by the employing entity, or entities, as noted above.
Note: Short-term substitute experience does not meet the experience requirement listed above.
